Respira Labs is a startup working on revolutionizing COPD management with a wearable device.
The device is secured to the chest and uses acoustic sensors to monitor lung function. By identifying when a patient’s lung function has changed slightly, the patient and healthcare team can intervene before it becomes a COPD exacerbation attack. A COPD exacerbation attack can happen over the course of days or even quickly over the course of a few hours, and if not treated early enough, can be life threatening.
Sylvee Digital Companion
Their digital companion “Sylvee” monitors respiratory rates and breathing sounds, in addition to pulmonary volumes and trapped air. This data is analyzed and turned into actionable insights on how to optimize someone’s respiratory health on a day to day basis.
Dr. Artunduaga’s inspiration is from watching her grandmother struggle with COPD. After her grandmother died, Dr. Artunduaga decided to dedicate her life to helping other people with COPD.
