Dexcom from the book "How AI Can Democratize Healthcare" by Michael Ferro & Robin Farmanfarmaian

Dexcom Website

Dexcom is a company focused on improving the lives of people with diabetes. Dexcom has a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) with a small, wearable sensor and transmitter that is implanted just under the skin and sends glucose readings to a smartphone or other device every 5 minutes. The CGM measures glucose in interstitial fluid versus blood.

Dexcom has been clinically proven to decrease A1C, a key diabetes measurement in addition to better control of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.

While Dexcom isn’t a startup company (founded in 1967 by Stuart J. Updike and George P. Hicks) they are a key innovator and leader in clinical grade implantable sensors.
