About

Livongo Website

Livongo is a chronic condition management platform that was acquired by Teledoc in 2020 for $18.5B. One interesting aspect of Livongo is that they were the first digital health company to have an Amazon Alexa Skill (app) for their diabetes program. Since Amazon Alexa is now HIPAA compliant, it can be used with private patient health data and communication. The patient can say to Alexa “Hey Alexa, what does Livongo say was my glucose reading today?”.

Livongo is accessible for people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes when covered under their employer or health plan. Livongo also has a hypertension program. When the employee signs up for a certain plan, they typically receive a Welcome Kit in the mail with the required clinical grade connected devices for blood pressure, glucose meter, unlimited strips and lancets, and other vital sign monitoring depending on the individual’s needs. Livongo also supplies live virtual health coaches.
